8 Ways to Clear Out Negative Energy for a New Start

You know when you feel like you’re in a funk and just can’t get out of it? There’s no rhyme or reason for the way you feel; you just feel crappy. Chances are, you’re surrounded by negative energy. You may not see it or know where it’s coming from, but you certainly feel it. The good news is that you can instantly boost the good vibes by clearing out the negative energy around you and here’s how you do just that:

Bring Air-Purifying Plants into Your Space

The first step is to bring some life – and lively energy back into your space. Add air purifying plants into your home to act as a natural filter for negative energy. Aloe, Peace Lilies and Devil’s Ivy are some of our favorites and they’ll add an extra dose of appeal into your home as well.

Embrace Fresh Air

Speaking of nature, embrace it! Open the blinds, crack the windows and let some fresh air and natural light flow into your home. This simple step to clearing out negative energy can make a significant difference in how you feel, as it pushes out the negative vibes while welcoming in positive vibes.

Burn White Sage

You don’t have to believe in witchcraft or voodoo spells to use and benefit from White Sage. This natural plant is commonly used to clear out negative energy (and ghostly spirits), making it the perfect way to embrace a new start in your space.

Simply walk around your home and swirl the smoke in a counterclockwise rotation to clear out all stagnant and negative energy.

Place Black Tourmaline Throughout Your Home

Healing crystals are a powerful way to achieve what you want from life, including the energy you desire for your home. Black Tourmaline is an excellent crystal for clearing out negative energy, and for those days when you’re feeling overwhelmed, keep one in your pocket. 

Diffuse Essential Oils

Some essential oils are toxic for them to breathe in.

If you don’t have an essential oil diffuser (you totally need to get one), use a calming room spray instead. A couple spritz of lavender, rose, frankincense or patchouli will help clear negative energy while also adding a nice and soothing aroma into your home. You can also spray yourself with the spray if you feel like the negative energy is attached to you.

Practice Self Care

Once you’ve gone through your home and cleared out the negative energy, take some time to treat yourself with wellness. You can get rid of the bad vibes in the air but if the bad vibes are on you, you’ll still feel lousy. So, enjoy a warm soothing bath with Himalayan bath salts and get those bad energies out of you as well.


Lastly, find a comfy place in your newly-cleansed home and take a couple of minutes to sit on a meditation pillow. A couple of slow, deep breaths can work wonders for balancing the energy in your mind, body and spirit.
